Contact Lenses

There has never been a better time to wear contact lenses.

Thanks to innovative design and materials, contact lenses are more comfortable and affordable than ever.

In each branch of Lunettes Opticians we offer a professional contact lens service, from initial assessment through to regular aftercare checks. Consider joining our Lunettes Eyecare Plan, it offers excellent value and convenience.

Our wide range of contact lenses offer our patients comfort, along with the best eye health available by using materials with high oxygen transmissibility (silicone hydrogel materials with added wetting agents). They are also available in a variety of forms, including toric lenses for astigmatism, multifocal and extended wear options.

Our contact lens care service is professional and thorough, right from the initial assessment to regular aftercare appointments.

New wearers to contact lenses can expect a full and comprehensive consultation to check their suitability and to determine which lenses are best for them. Different types of lenses can be trialled if necessary, until the patient is completely happy with the outcome. We offer a full aftercare service including teaching insertion & removal of lenses, and the best way to care for them, followed by regular aftercare visits.

All appointments are carried out by fully qualified Optometrists (Ophthalmic Opticians) who undertake constant training to learn about the most recent techniques and contact lens materials

Lunettes Opticians are members of the Alcon Academy for Eyecare Excellence Partnership and an accredited Johnson & Johnson Acuvue Centre of Excellence, both leading manufacturers of innovative contact lenses worldwide.

Guide to Contact Lens Application

EyeDream Ortho K Contact Lenses

A revolutionary vision correction therapy that provides clear, comfortable vision without the need to wear glasses or contact lenses during the day.

Ortho K uses a specially designed contact lens that reverses the power of the cornea, at the front of the eye during overnight wear. Once the full effect has taken place patients can expect clear vision during the day.

Ortho K is ideal for low to mid short sighted people who:

  • Want clear natural vision all day long
  • Find soft contact lenses uncomfortable to wear on a daily basis
  • Are involved in sporting activities
  • Have considered refractive surgery because of the freedom it provides, but are worried about the risk

Ortho K provides our patients with the freedom from contact lenses and glasses all day long. It is a safe and fully reversible vision correction therapy without surgery.

Ortho K is a vision therapy that brings a modern approach to a technique known as orthokeratology.

Ortho K lenses are manufactured from special highly oxygen permeable material which, when worn during sleep, reshape the front of the eye eliminating your shortsightedness. This effect stays strong enough for you to function the entire day without glasses or contact lenses.

Ortho K is available to patients with the following degrees of shortsightedness:

  • A spherical spectacle prescription of -0.75D up to -4.50D
  • Astigmatism of up to -1.50D

Along with their expertise in all types of contact lens fitting our Ortho K practitioners have undergone an extensive programme of training prior to treating patients with Ortho K. Our staff will be able to advise you of your suitability for Ortho K treatment.

Research and experience shows that the whole Ortho K treatment is 100% safe and reversible. If a patient decides to stop Ortho K treatment the eye will return to its original shape and they will be able to see clearly again with glasses or contact lenses. This makes Ortho K an excellent alternative to laser eye surgery
